Bancroft Municipal Utility is seeking a qualified and experienced Electric Lineman!

Bancroft Municipal Utility provides reliable and affordable electric service to the community of Bancroft, Iowa. We cover 68 miles of electrical service and are committed to providing safe, efficient, and reliable energy to our customers.

About the Position:

Join our team as a Utility Line Worker and play a vital role in maintaining and expanding our electrical distribution system. You'll work both independently and as part of a team to install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground power lines. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for someone who can strengthen their skills and enjoys working outdoors.

Responsibilities:

  • Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Set poles, lay cable, install wire, and install and repair transformers.
  • Troubleshoot faulty circuits and transformers, locate underground cables, and trim trees as required.
  • Operate a high lift bucket truck, digger derrick, dump truck, skid loader, and vac machine.
  • Operation of diesel generators as needed.
  • Assist with all record keeping relating to municipal utilities operations.
  • Assist with the completion of all regular reports including those required by state and federal agencies, NIMECA, the city council and others as needed.
  • Be available for 24-hour emergency on-call rotation.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a utility line worker. Journeyman preferred.
  • Class A CDL with air brake endorsement issued by the State of Iowa.
  • Understanding of basic electrical theory, including working voltages of 120V to 480V Secondary Y & Delta and 2400V to 69,000V Primaries Y & Delta.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
